Applications and Precautions of Medical Insulation Monitoring Device

Jun 07, 2025

The medical insulation monitoring device is used in departments such as the disinfection supply center, operating room, and endoscopy room. In order to avoid issues like leakage that could affect the surgical treatment process and ensure patient safety, it plays a very significant role and is one of the indispensable pieces of equipment in the supply room. The medical insulation monitoring device plays a decisive role in improving the overall safety of the supply room.

Applications of the Medical Insulation Monitoring Device

  • Insulation performance testing of laparoscopic surgical forceps, dissection forceps, and other endoscopic instruments with power sources.

  • External insulation performance testing of electrical surgical instruments such as electrohooks, electro-rods, electrosurgical units, electrocautery forceps, etc.

  • Internal continuity and external insulation performance testing of monopolar electrocautery forceps, bipolar electrocautery forceps, and other electrical surgical instruments.

  • External insulation performance testing and continuity testing of endoscopes, laparoscopes, electrosurgical units, electrocautery forceps, and other electrical surgical instruments with monopolar or bipolar electrocautery connection wires and surgical instrument wires.

  • External insulation performance testing and continuity testing of electrical surgical instrument or equipment power cords such as monopolar or bipolar electrocautery devices' power cords.

Precautions for the Medical Insulation Monitoring Device

  • The essence of the medical insulation monitoring device is high-voltage discharge. High-voltage discharge will produce electric sparks, so do not use it around flammable or explosive objects or gases to avoid sparks causing explosions during testing.

  • The instrument being tested must be dry because water is a conductor. If a water film is present on the surface of the instrument, it will inevitably conduct the charge from the upper part of the insulation layer to the internal metal layer, causing a short circuit, and the medical insulation monitoring instrument will inevitably alarm during inspection.

  • The surface of the object being tested should be clean to reduce contact resistance and ensure the accuracy of the medical insulation monitoring device's measurement results. The operation table should be placed stably and securely.

  • Use dry, soft, clean gauze to wipe the screen of the medical insulation monitoring instrument, and use alcohol cleaning cloths to clean the casing.

  • Ensure that the medical insulation monitoring instrument is adequately powered when testing instruments.
